I thought something smelled funny

It turns out the 6th grade teacher at my school couldn't handle the 6th grade students because they were sassy, so she wanted to moved to a lower grade... Guess whose position she is getting? I wish the worst I could say for my 4th graders were that they were sassy. I'm not meaning to be ugly to my kids, cause I love them, just saying they're a challenge. Anyway, I can't keep a couple students(who have done NOTHING all year) engaged, I get booted, then they replace me with a 6th grade teacher who can't handle her students....makes a lot of sense huh? The other 4th grade teachers are a bit ticked too because they know how hard I worked and how much I contributed.

That being said, gonna look for work elsewhere in the area, even resorting back to accounting. I can attend summer workshops for a little extra money. Hopefully, this will help later when I am without health insurance!

Some good things: Got the pool ready and remembered what a joy it is to bring Smiley swimming. J is starting to tolerate the pool this year and maybe enjoying it a little too.

Well, back to job hunting for me. It would be nice to catch a break once in a while.

Family of 6

D is back (14 yr old boy we took for the weekend). He wasn't happy in his other foster home, so he will be staying with us for a while. He seems like a good kid, no abuse problems, just lack of parental supervision(no supervision) at home.

Threat

There was a bomb threat today at all the schools in our area. To make things worse, daycare decides to take advantage of the situation to get a day off. I couldn't leave K with the kids all day, so got a half day off. Of course, it was kinda nice in a way to have a little time off. I only had 4 kids in my class when I left. They should have cancelled school, but I guess its better not to have to make it up like we did for all the hurricane days missed.

For those who asked, yes we are adopting J.

When school ends, the teenager we took for the weekend is coming to stay with us for a while D.

Smiley's mom is due in July, and think I've convinced my husband to let me accept the baby as a placement if he comes into care.

On the job front, there doesn't appear to be any openings at this time, so it looks like I'm either going to have to take the year off or give up teaching(which I love) to go back into the business field for employment.

I'm so looking forward to the summer and we've been promising ourselves to a vaction and hope to follow through on it this time.
