Scooter for the Holidays

We talked our worker yesterday and she said there was no way Texas would have Scooter's dad's homestudy complete by the November hearing. In fact, he will probably have to work a caseplan and he may be here 6 months!

There is so much wrong with that I cannot even begin to explain.

Looks like Scooter is going to Disney World though!

Aww- that really stinks!!! It just drives me nuts at how and why the govt is soooooooo slow... esp. when they are dealing with the lives of little children who grow up sooooooo fast!

This same thing happened to us!
We already had "Lil" and got "Tia" and although an aunt was going to take Tia she was with us 6 months!! (It's horrible what they do to the kids isn't it?...it's like the courts just don't "get it"...these are lives they are dealing with!!) By then she was totally a part of our family, extended family too! It was so incredibly hard when she left...she kept saying it's okay mommy I'll call you tonight and I'll see you tomorrow. She was just 3 and didn't understand. She made the adjustment like a trooper...the rest of us on the otherhand still mourn her departure 2 years later!
Her picture hung on our Christmas tree last year as it always will. It's hard to let go, but it's what we sign up for. We love them and give them all we can while they are with us. She will always be a part of our family as Scooter will for you. For us Lil LOVED having a big sister around and I bet Baby N will really enjoy Scooter as he gets bigger! Enjoy your boys!!!!

I don't understand why dad has to have a homestudy when he is the biological father? I assume he only just found out about the kid, because the mother didn't tell him? Surely this happens in non-social-worker-land all the time?

Bad news on one hand, but on the other hand at least they TOLD YOU - finally, some communication!! Ugh. So, it is both good and bad news I guess. At least from what you say here, he seems like a pretty nice little boy, AND you can have a really positive impact and N can have a playmate!

    drspouse,

I don't understand why dad needs a homestudy either. From what he told me the mom left him with the kid and he's only seen him a couple times(he thought baby N was his son). Maybe because he hasn't been around? I wish I knew.

That is crazy! They should be able to do a homestudy more quickly than that - for all your sake's.

Is there anyway you can make sure the dad has some time with him beforehand? That might make things easier.

    Hang in there.
