We Found a Bed...Sort Of

Thanks Foster Mommy, for suggesting this:

Amby Baby Hammock

I think this will make a great bed for baby N. It's kinda expensive, bu I'm hinting at my husband to let me order it anyway. I wish there was a way to put it on my registry. Maybe I can put a bug in my mom's ear. It could be birthday, Christmas, L's birthday, L's Christmas present. Baby stuff has gotten a lot more expensive since the last time I could go baby shower shopping without bursting into tears.

After hunting all over the internet, this is probably the most comfortable option for baby N. I'm gonna start buttering up my dear husband. I'm gonna have to do a good job trying to convince him to pack the 4 of us up and go to my mom's in Baton Rouge. When we get there, I want to go baby shopping.

So, how do you butter up your hubby to get what you want?

Well, personally all I have to do is bat my eyes at him... Works every time! ;) *lol* ... But I don't know if it would work for all guys! *lol*

Well, I want to check out that bed, because I've never heard of one before.

Wow that looks comfy, do they make them for adults? :)

My son had colic and he had to be moving all the time that would have been great!

Take care and enjoy getting ready!

That is one of those expenditures that you may have to just suck up and get! It looks like the best option and it is portable- you can take it anywhere! Grandma's- :) she would like that option now wouldn't she...

Looks great! (Is there a weight limit on it? Baby N is so huge!)

Perhaps this is a gift that several people could go in on together as a group present??

Ebay is also a great suggestion...too bad you can't put it on your registry! does babiesrus.com perhaps carry it?

Lisa, My name is Lisa too and my birthday is June 8!!! Only I'll be 31! Hey, I just popped over to E-bay and they have a whole page of these for sale, for A LOT less. One is ending in 3 hours and is still at $76. Just a thought! Also, before you buy, do check the weight and age limit. Once he gets mobile, will it be safe? My twins were terrible sleepers, so they slept in thier carseats in a bassinette for 5 months, but baby N may be too big? It made a good transition to their crib, as I was able to let them sleep in the carseat in the crib for a few days before they went in there. Will baby N be able to sleep on his back after surgery? He sounds precious and I'm so very happy for you. Oh, here's the link to the e-bay hammocks:

With an extra spring you can buy, it holds up to 45 lbs! L doesn't want to do ebay, but I think he's gonna let me get a new one. We've had fraudulent activity on our accounts before and don't trust paypal with all the phishing emails. Then again, we will still have to order from a website anyway. We will probably order it in a couple weeks. I can't wait to try it out.

I just looked- weight limit is 25 lbs but an upgraded spring gives you a 40 lb limit!! Perfect!!!

Well I generally don't have to butter my husband up for $. It is the darned IVF thing that I need to work on. So, if you find a good solution to the problem - let me know :))

fun to see my "name" in your post!

We've had the Amby for 6 months and Niblet LOVES it. The website claims that pediatricians recommend it in Australia and New Zealand, so there must be something to it. :)

I don't remember if I mentioned it, but we got ours for a reduced price by emailing/calling about returns/second-quality hammocks. We got one of the basic packages (without the second spring or the infant insert) that had been returned. It was in perfect condition and was, if i recall, around $150.

Give them a call and see what they have. And it doesn't hurt to mention that you're doing foster care. They were very supportive of that and glad to help me out.

It's really a great bed. Niblet's now 27.5" long and still fits well in it. It's so helpful to be able to swing her when she fusses.

Another plus is that, if the foam mattress gets really soaked with a bad spit-up, you can just stick it under a faucet and rinse it clean. Takes a little while to dry, but it might do well on a low heat in the dryer. We tend to keep a burp cloth under the sheet and on top of the sheet, under her head. Just to keep the sheet clean longer and give us the ability to change out the cloth in the middle of the night if she wets it.

Hope you can get an Amby soon. Even if you don't keep N for long (which, of course, I hope you do) it will be great for any forever baby!

Oh, and as if that last post wasn't long enough...
    about registries.
Here are a couple of sites where you can create a registry and add things from all over the internet. So you're not limited just to the things available through Amazon/Babies R Us. It's really great.
And then you could add the Amby!

    http://www.thethingsiwant.com/
    http://www.findgift.com/

We used FindGift for our "parenting" shower (before we had a placement). But that's only because thethingsiwant.com didn't exist yet. I'd probably use that, if I were doing it now.
